A Few Key Changes and Additions
Just like Hollow Knight, Silksong belongs to the side-scrolling action game genre, paying homage to challenging bosses and encounters a la Dark Souls. You'll slay over 150 different types of enemies across a sprawling map, with many bosses to conquer.
Silksong adds some exciting twists to Hollow Knight's formula:
- Meet Hornet: Hornet takes the spotlight as the new protagonist. She's zippy, agile, and can heal faster than the Knight. Hornet also has the distinct advantage of a voice!
- Hornet uses Silk for healing and abilities instead of Souls like the Knight. When you kick the bucket, you'll drop a bundle of silk that you'll need to reclaim to restore your supply.
- Tools replace charms, with options like bombs and spiked balls at your disposal. You can even create them yourself!
- Adventure through the kingdom of Pharloom, a fresh and exotic locale.
- Silksong throws two new currencies into the mix: Shell Shards and Rosaries. Shell Shards repair and craft tools, while Rosaries buy goods. Both currencies can be found in caches or by slaughtering enemies.
- Keep tabs on quests through a four-tiered system, which includes Gather, Wayfarer, Hunt, and Grand Hunt quests. You can pick them up from NPCs, track progress through notice boards, and stay abreast of the latest developments.
