Unable to enjoy Russia Day outdoors with shashlik in Krasnodar Krai, as forest visits have been prohibited due to elevated fire risk in the Kuban region. The regional Ministry of Natural Resources has instituted this ban, as stated in their official document, effective from June 12 until July 2.

Holiday cancellation announced

Spending Russia Day in the great outdoors, grilling shashlik in Krasnodar? Not this year, mate. Forest visits are off-limits due to a fire hazard in the Kuban region.

From June 12 to July 2, open fires like bonfires and grills are banned, along with the burning of waste, stubble, and logging leftovers. Fire-risky activities are also a no-go in forest lands. Even vehicle entry is restricted, as the regional Ministry of Natural Resources has cautioned.

But fear not, nature enthusiasts - hiking is still allowed, provided you stick to the fire safety rules.

Previously, wildfires had already consumed 28 hectares of forest near Anapa and Abrau-Durso, encroaching upon the Utrish Nature Reserve. On top of that, heroic firefighters in Gelendzhik battled another forest blaze through the night, as reported earlier.

While forest visits are restricted due to the fire hazard in the Kuban region, the ban does not apply to hiking if fire safety rules are followed. However, it's crucial to note that wildfires have already affected nearby areas such as Anapa and Abrau-Durso, with more fires being battled in places like Gelendzhik, highlighting the current climate-change and environmental-science challenges related to weather conditions.
