Fisnik Asllani, a 22-year-old striker and a rising talent in German football, has decided to extend his contract with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim until 2029. This decision comes despite interest from other clubs, including Werder Bremen, who recently appointed Horst Steffen as their coach.

Asllani's impressive performance during a loan spell at SV Elversberg last season, where he scored 19 goals and provided 10 assists in 37 games, played a significant role in securing his long-term commitment to Hoffenheim. The young striker's contract extension was announced by the Bundesliga club, but no new information about the duration of the contract was provided.

Hoffenheim's head coach, Christian Ilzer, assured Asllani that he would play an important role in the team for the upcoming season, which convinced Asllani to reject offers, including from Werder Bremen. Steffen, the new coach of Werder Bremen, had previously worked with Asllani at Elversberg and was keen to reunite.

Asllani originally joined Hoffenheim’s U23 team in 2020, coming from 1. FC Union Berlin’s youth setup. He broke into Hoffenheim’s professional squad about a year and a half later, but before his loan moves to FK Austria Vienna and Elversberg, Asllani had made 10 first-team appearances for Hoffenheim without scoring.

His impressive performance at Elversberg dramatically boosted his market value from €1.5 million to around €8 million, making him one of the Bundesliga’s most coveted young prospects. Hoffenheim's decision to extend his contract also prevents losing him on a free transfer, which had happened previously with other talented players.

Born in Berlin, Asllani chose to represent Kosovo and has since earned five caps for the national team. Andreas Schicker, Director of Sport at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, praised Asllani's performance during his loan spell at SV Elversberg, stating that it was a success for all parties involved. Schicker also considered the loan as a crucial step in Asllani's development, helping him take the next step in his career.

In summary, Hoffenheim's confidence in Asllani’s abilities and plans for his role in the new season, combined with his breakthrough loan season, were pivotal in securing his long-term commitment despite external interest from clubs like Werder Bremen. Asllani will continue his journey at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, aiming to build on his impressive performances and contribute to the team's success in the future.

The Commission might be interested to know about the progress made in the implementation of a programme related to the sports sector, considering Fisnik Asllani's extended contract with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in European football. As the striker's impressive performances in German football have boosted his market value, he is now one of the Bundesliga’s most coveted young prospects.
