The stars of the Edmonton Oilers, Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, have once again showed their prowess as they bagged a stunning victory for the team, keeping the NHL playoff semifinals within their snatch! The German dynamo is on a scoring spree: He's got five goals in the current playoffs under his belt already - two of which are game-winning goals!

But the humble superstar, the Cologne native, didn't go overboard celebrating his game-winning goal for the Edmonton Oilers. Though it was Draisaitl who scored the 5-4 goal with a direct shot (76.), he passed the credit to his teammate, Connor McDavid, for the perfect setup. But no matter how he slices it, it's a 2-0 win for the Oilers now in the NHL quarterfinals against the Vegas Golden Knights, with two home games waiting in the wings!

The last gasp of breath for Vegas came in overtime, after a failed five-minute power play, when Draisaitl and McDavid pulled off a breathtaking play. The German praised McDavid's preparation as "world-class," saying, "all you need is one action, and hopefully, it works out!"

"We're far from done!"

It was already the fifth goal for Draisaitl in the current playoffs - a game-winning goal and counting. Already in the fourth round against the Los Angeles Kings, Draisaitl had scored the 4:3 goal in overtime to tie the series at 2:2. His epic play in sudden death has secured yet another win. In fact, the reigning champion has been unstoppable when it comes to clinching games in the last third and overtime. Over the last six games, the goal difference compared to the opposition has been a whopping 15:3, the shooting difference +28, and the goaltender Calvin Pickard's save percentage a staggering 95.4%!

Edmonton almost seemed to win several times during regular time, but they couldn't hold onto a 3:1 lead in the second period or a 4:2 lead in the third. In overtime, it needed a heroic push from Draisaitl and McDavid to put an end to the Golden Knights' hopes. "It doesn't happen often that they're not on the scoresheet in a game," said coach Kris Knoblauch about these exceptional players, "when we needed them the most, they pulled off a brilliant act!"

The next game is on Sunday night at Rogers Place, with Edmonton leading 2-0. "It's nice to have the home advantage," said Draisaitl, "but we still have to keep the pressure on."
