Munich (dpa) - The German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB) is bringing six heavy-hitters from the NHL to the 2026 Winter Olympics, with MVP contender Leon Draisaitl leading the charge.
Besides Draisaitl, currently duking it out for the NHL title with the Edmonton Oilers, the roster includes Philipp Grubauer, now crushing it with the Seattle Kraken, Lukas Reichel, putting his skills on display for the Chicago Blackhawks, Moritz Seider, stealing the show for the Detroit Red Wings, Nico Sturm, putting up a great fight for the Florida Panthers, and Tim Stützle, showing off his moves for the Ottawa Senators. It's been six long years since NHL professionals have graced the Olympic ice hockey tournament, but that's all about to change in Milan.

"We're hype for a top-tier sporting spectacle, and knowing the best players on the planet will be in action makes it even better," said DEB Sports Director Christian Künast. "Since we've got some NHL talent on our squad, it made sense to give our first six players from this group the nod." The final roster won't be set in stone until just before the tournament begins.
The German team, who nabbed the silver in Pyeongchang back in 2018, has Denmark, Latvia, and the USA waiting for them in Group C from February 11 to 22.
