Ho Chi Minh City's Youth Union mobilizes young voters ahead of elections

Youth Union branches across Ho Chi Minh City are rolling out new campaigns to engage young voters ahead of the upcoming elections. From social media drives to community meetings, the initiatives aim to inform first-time participants about their rights and the voting process.

One standout effort is the 'Tôi đi bầu' (I go to vote) movement, which encourages young people to create and share election-related content. Meanwhile, local unions are using a mix of online tools and face-to-face discussions to reach as many as possible.

In Thủ Dầu Một Ward, the Youth Union has launched a programme called 'Cử tri trẻ - Sẵn sàng ngày bầu cử' (Young voters – Ready for election day). The scheme provides practical guidance on how young people can access election information. Organisers have also teamed up with ward police to identify first-time voters and worked with neighbourhood groups to invite them to discussions about the polls.

Over in Bến Thành Ward, the local Youth Union is running similar activities. Meetings and youth gatherings now include sessions on voter rights, responsibilities, and the political importance of elections. Basic details about the voting process are shared at these events. Online, the unions have boosted their presence by posting infographics, videos, and polling updates on community pages and social media groups. The 'Tôi đi bầu' movement has gained traction, with young people producing and sharing their own election-related posts. In Bà Rịa Ward, the Youth Union is using a variety of communication methods to ensure young voters understand their role in the process. While exact figures on youth engagement in the city remain unclear, the campaigns reflect broader efforts across Vietnamese provinces to increase participation among younger voters.

The initiatives come as Youth Union units push to raise political awareness and civic responsibility before the election. By combining digital outreach with in-person events, they aim to ensure young voters feel informed and prepared. The focus remains on practical support, from explaining voting procedures to encouraging active involvement in the democratic process.
