As we can see in the image there is a clear sky and at the bottom there are buildings and in between there is a bridge on which a metro train is passing and in between there are electric poles which are connected to electric wires and below it there is a ploughing vehicle and beside it there are plants and trees and between them there is a black tent and beside it there is a fencing.

Ho Chi Minh City’s Metro Line 2 races to meet 2026 construction deadline despite delays

The relocation work for the Metro Line 2 project in Ho Chi Minh City is facing challenges due to multiple technical systems under different agencies' management. Despite these hurdles, MAUR, under the leadership of Director Phan Công Bằng, is pushing for completion by the end of 2025 to meet the January 15, 2026 construction start date.

As of now, about 70% of the technical infrastructure for Metro Line 2 has been successfully relocated. Many station areas have also completed site clearance, paving the way for construction to begin. MAUR has instructed contractors to finish all remaining site areas by the end of 2025 to ensure the project stays on track.

However, maintaining traffic flow on major thoroughfares has slowed down the relocation progress. Heavy rains have further complicated the work, adding to the challenges faced by the teams on the ground. Director Bằng submitted MAUR's technology and standards report to the HCM City People's Committee on November 11, 2025, outlining the progress and plans for the project.

With the groundbreaking date for Metro Line 2 fixed on January 15, 2026, MAUR is committed to completing the remaining site clearance by the end of 2025. The successful relocation of the technical infrastructure is crucial for the timely start of construction on January 16, 2026, ensuring that the project stays on schedule.
