HKAFF 2022 Kicks Off With Animated Premieres and Local Debuts
The 22nd Hong Kong Asian Film Festival (HKAFF) kicked off on October 22 with the Asian premiere of the animated film Another World. The festival also showcases local debuts like Gamer Girls and Finch & Midland, along with features inspired by manga artist Yoshiharu Tsuge. Another World, directed by Jang Jae-hyun, opened the festival. This Hong Kong animation marks its Asian premiere at HKAFF. The festival also spotlights local talent with the esports-themed Gamer Girls, starring Angela Yuen Lai-lam, and the Canada-set drama Finch & Midland, featuring Anthony Wong Chau-sang and Patrick Tam Yiu-man. In addition to these premieres, the HKAFF includes a selection of features adapted from the work of manga artist Yoshiharu Tsuge. This year's Two Seasons, Two Strangers, directed by Sho Miyake, is among the notable adaptations. The 22nd HKAFF offers a diverse range of films, from animated features to local debuts and adaptations of manga classics. The festival continues until November 5, providing film enthusiasts with a wealth of cinematic experiences.
