Historic End Approaching: Jens Riewa Declares Changes with Sober Reflection - History reaches its conclusion: "Jens Riewa's announcement - A remnant of the past is disappearing"
For many, "Evening Winds" (or "Top Stories") on ARD is a nightly ritual - a chance to unwind while staying informed. This long-standing program, established in 1978, has been a steadfast companion in our living rooms. Yet, changes to its format often evoke resistance, especially from its traditional audience.
Recently, changes are afoot. Jens Riewa, the face of "Tagesschau", broke the news on Instagram - a segment readers are accustomed to hearing towards the end of "Evening Winds" will now be absent during weekends. It's a shift that has Jens himself reflecting on history's impending closure.
"Evening Winds" alters its weekend rhythm
It's not unusual to find "Evening Winds" bereft of its reader on Sundays. The change to weekends, however, has Jens Riewa expressing a sense of nostalgia. In a casual video shared on Instagram, he traced the lineage of "Tagesschau" and "Evening Winds" in the Hamburg studio using a selfie stick, offering a glimpse into the family tree of these familiar news programs.
Jens Riewa recounted an anecdote from the past about Karl-Heinz Köpcke, a former "Tagesschau" speaker. Upon the introduction of "Evening Winds", Köpcke, feeling sidelined, would voice his disapproval through noisy paper rustling.
Not Everybody's Delighted - Criticisms Roll In
Not every viewer is delighted with the current development. Even actor Hans Sigl, renowned for his role in "The Mountain Doctor" series, voiced his concern with the fashionable term "Quo vadis information?" Others have expressed their regret as well. For Jens Riewa, though, the removed news segment means a happier weekend - an opportunity to wrap things up earlier, as explained in his Instagram post.
Back at the anchor desk, Jens Riewa, alongside Ingo Zamperoni, resumed their roles on Monday, giving the latest updates on Annalena Baerbock's election as President of the UN General Assembly and the presidential election in South Korea.
