In Syria's Sweida province, a humanitarian crisis persists as sectarian clashes between Druze and Bedouin groups continue, with heavy involvement from government forces. The violence, which began around mid-July 2025, has resulted in widespread displacement, food and water shortages, and attacks on medical facilities.

The Syrian government has deployed Interior and Defense Ministry forces in an attempt to restore order, but their intervention has been linked to looting, home burnings, and abuses, including summary executions. Ceasefires have been fragile, and violence has continued intermittently.

Israeli airstrikes have also targeted Syrian government positions in Sweida, justifying these actions as a means to protect Druze populations. This has fuelled accusations of collaboration or contact between some Druze factions and Israeli forces, although this remains a highly contentious and sensitive issue.

Reports suggest that some groups in Sweida are working directly with Israeli troops through shared operations rooms. On July 22, 2025, a Hebrew-language message was circulated, promising to turn Jabal al-Sweida into a "graveyard for ISIS."

On the same day, a United Nations convoy evacuated families from Sweida, moving through the buffer zone in Busra al-Harir, Syria's southern Daraa province. The UN also handed a new aid shipment to the Syrian Red Crescent, destined for Sweida, on an unspecified date.

Meanwhile, armed groups attacked Najran in western rural Sweida, breaking the truce. Some people had returned to Najran in the last few weeks after the fighting troops left, but the attack still occurred. Reports describe the use of rocket launchers, grenades, DShK heavy machine guns, and light infantry weapons like PKC machine guns in the attack.
