Historic Zytturm Clock Tower Reopens After Renovation
The historic Zytturm clock tower in Canton of Zug has reopened after an 18-month renovation. The restoration, which preserved the tower's historic character, included updates to electrical installations and improved fire safety. The public can visit the tower during an open house on November 2, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.
The renovation, carried out in close collaboration with heritage conservation authorities, saw wooden ceilings, railings, and the interior's historic features preserved. The city's Financial Office played a role in advising on the project, though specific details of their involvement are not available. City Councilor Urs Raschle, head of the Finance Department, praised the project as a model for handling protected heritage sites.
Access to the Zytturm has been modernized. Visitors can now use the eZug app to enter the tower, similar to the Zug Library and Study Library during extended hours.
The Zytturm clock tower's renovation has successfully balanced preservation and modernization. With improved safety features and accessible entry via the eZug app, the tower is ready to welcome the public during the upcoming open house.
