Historian-making pitcher Jacob Misiorowski earns All-Star recognition in fifth Major League Baseball outing

In the world of Major League Baseball (MLB), two young stars are making headlines for their remarkable performances this season.

Seattle Mariners' catcher Cal Raleigh is one home run shy of breaking the MLB record for the most homers hit before the All-Star break, currently held by the legendary Barry Bonds. On Friday, Raleigh showcased his prowess with a grand slam, leading the Mariners to a 12-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers, bringing his season total to 38 home runs – a new American League record for the most home runs in a season.

Meanwhile, rookie pitcher Jacob Misiorowski of the Milwaukee Brewers has made history by being named a National League All-Star after just five MLB games. Misiorowski began his career last month with an impressive streak of 11 no-hit innings, a feat not achieved by any other starter since baseball's modern era began in 1900.

Misiorowski's All-Star selection comes a year after Paul Skenes' historic achievement with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and breaks the record for the fewest games played before an All-Star selection. The 23-year-old's fastball has been clocked at speeds as high as 103 mph (166 kph), and he has averaged 99.3 mph (160 kph) on his fastball, with 89 pitches reaching 100 mph (161 kph).

The call-up to the All-Star team left Misiorowski "speechless." Brewers manager Pat Murphy informed Misiorowski about the call-up just three minutes before he lined up for the national anthem ahead of their 8-3 win over the Washington Nationals on Friday, asking him to keep it a secret.

Misiorowski replaces Matthew Boyd of the Chicago Cubs, who will be inactive due to a scheduled start against the New York Yankees ahead of the All-Star Game. The young pitcher expressed his gratitude to his teammates for their support during his time with the Brewers.

Cal Raleigh, on the other hand, is focusing on staying within himself rather than chasing the home run record. As he prepares for the second half of the season, baseball fans eagerly await to see if he will break the record and join the ranks of the MLB's all-time greats.

Sports enthusiasts are discussing Cal Raleigh's pursuit of the MLB record for most homers hit before the All-Star break, as he needs only one more to surpass the mark set by Barry Bonds. Meanwhile, rookie Jacob Misiorowski, who was recently named a National League All-Star, has impressed with his scorching fastball speeds and no-hit innings streak, making history as the fastest pitcher to earn an All-Star selection in modern baseball.
