Highway 3 remains closed indefinitely due to storm damage
Highway 3 between Hope and Manning Park remains closed after severe storm damage. The shutdown follows a series of atmospheric rivers that struck the region starting on December 10. Repair crews are now working non-stop to fix the affected sections.
The closure was triggered by heavy rain and flooding from the storms. Officials have confirmed 22 separate sites along the route need urgent repairs. A total of 55 workers and 15 technical experts are on-site, supported by 40 pieces of heavy equipment.
Drivers are being warned of increased congestion on Highway 1 and Highway 5 as traffic diverts. The Ministry of Highways has not yet announced when the road will reopen. No project managers or team leaders have been named in current reports.
The indefinite closure means delays will continue for those travelling through the area. Alternative routes are handling extra vehicles, but no firm date for reopening has been set. Repairs remain the top priority for crews working in difficult conditions.
