Highlander is looking to cast Dave Bautista for a significant part, and this isn't the sole significant film that the Dune star has recently agreed to feature in.
In an exciting turn of events, Dave Bautista has been cast as the villainous Kurgan in the upcoming reboot of the iconic Highlander franchise. Originally portrayed by Clancy Brown in the 1986 film, the Kurgan is set to make a comeback, this time with Bautista bringing his formidable presence to the role.
Henry Cavill, who will play the lead role of Connor MacLeod, the immortal protagonist, will be joined by Bautista in this action-packed reboot. Another notable addition to the cast is Russell Crowe, who will play an undisclosed significant role in the film.
The Highlander reboot is under the direction of Chad Stahelski, known for his work on the John Wick series, and is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Production is scheduled to begin in fall 2025, with a release expected around 2027 or 2028.
Meanwhile, Bautista's potential role in Road House 2 is shrouded in mystery, with no details revealed as yet. However, given his history of action-packed roles, it can be inferred that his character in Road House 2 may be action-oriented, potentially involving fights or combat scenes.
Bautista is also set to voice a villain in the theatrical release of The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, and will appear in several upcoming films, including Afterburner, The Wrecking Crew, and Alpha Gang, although release dates for these projects have not been announced.
