Highest temperature of the year registered by weather service
The German Weather Service (DWD) has confirmed that Germany is currently experiencing another heatwave, with preliminary temperatures for the evening of Tuesday indicating high temperatures across the country. The DWD expects the next heat record to be broken on Wednesday, with local temperatures potentially reaching close to the current all-time high of 41.2 degrees Celsius.
On Tuesday, Kitzingen in Bavaria recorded the highest temperature of the year so far at 37.8 degrees, a figure that could be surpassed on Wednesday. Saarbrücken-Burbach in Saarland came close with a temperature of 37.6 degrees. The current yearly high from Kitzingen could be broken on Wednesday, but the DWD spokesman has stated that they are not expecting the all-time heat record to be broken at this moment.
The forecasts do suggest that it will get even hotter on Wednesday, but the all-time heat record for Germany, which was recorded on July 25, 2019, at DWD weather stations in Tönisvorst and Duisburg-Baerl, both in North Rhine-Westphalia, remains unbroken. This temperature surpassed the previous national temperature record in Saarbrücken-Burbach, Saarland, where 36.2 degrees were measured on June 22.
While the temperatures in Germany have been high after Tuesday, there were no previous mentions of temperatures reaching 40 degrees in the article. However, on Wednesday afternoon, isolated thunderstorms are expected in the south of Germany, and from the late afternoon on Wednesday, frequent thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail, and strong gusts of wind are expected in the northwest and parts of the north. Locally, there will be warnings for severe weather, especially from heavy rain on Wednesday.
The heatwave is expected to continue after Tuesday, but temperatures will cool down a bit from Thursday. It is possible that local temperatures will reach 40 degrees on Wednesday, but the all-time heat record for Germany remains the 41.2 degrees Celsius recorded in 2019.

The weather forecast for Wednesday indicates that temperatures in Germany could potentially reach above 40 degrees Celsius, possibly breaking the local yearly high in Kitzingen. Despite this, the all-time heat record for Germany, at 41.2 degrees Celsius, remains unbroken, as documented by the German Weather Service (DWD).
