Highest-level union meeting in eleven weeks, as reported by INSA
The latest INSA poll, commissioned by "Bild" and conducted between November 13 and 16, 2020, has revealed a significant increase in concerns about the spread of the coronavirus and its economic consequences in Germany. The poll, which surveyed 2,077 citizens, shows that concerns about the coronavirus have risen to 67%, the highest level since early April. Similarly, concerns about the economic consequences of the pandemic have reached their highest recorded level, at 77%. In the political landscape, the CDU/CSU, the traditional conservative party in Germany, has maintained its lead with 36.5%, a two-point increase from the previous poll. This rise is linked to the development of the Corona pandemic and growing concerns about its economic consequences. Armin Laschet, the CDU/CSU's candidate for the 2021 Bundestag election, was officially selected as the chancellor candidate by the CDU federal board on April 19, 2021, after internal competition with Markus Söder from the CSU. The SPD, FDP, Left, and Greens have maintained their values from the previous week. The SPD remains unchanged at 15.5%, FDP at 7%, Left at 7.5%, and Greens at 17.5%. The Alliance 90/The Greens, in partnership with the CDU/CSU, now constitutes 54% of the poll. The AfD, Germany's far-right party, has seen a slight drop, with a one-point decrease, now at 11%. Together, CDU/CSU and SPD add up to 52%, while CDU/CSU and Alliance 90/The Greens make up 54% of the poll. A photograph shared by dts Nachrichtenagentur depicts the CDU/CSU Bundestag fraction. The Union, comprising CDU/CSU and SPD, continues to account for a significant portion of the poll at 52%. These findings underscore the ongoing challenges Germany faces in managing the coronavirus pandemic and its economic fallout. The election in 2021 is expected to be a crucial moment in determining the country's response to these challenges.
