In the ongoing heatwave sweeping across Germany, the temperature in Tangerhütte-Demker, Saxony-Anhalt, reached a significant 39.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. However, this measurement falls short of the highest values recorded both nationally and locally this year.

The German Weather Service (DWD) reported on Wednesday that the highest temperature recorded in Germany for the day was actually in Andernach, Rhineland-Palatinate, where a temperature of 39.3 degrees was measured around 3:30 PM. This temperature also holds the title for the highest value recorded in Germany so far this year.

In comparison, Kitzingen, Bavaria, recently recorded a preliminary peak heat of 39.1 degrees Celsius on July 2, 2025. While this temperature is among the highest for Bavaria in recent years, it still remains below the all-time national records established in 2019. The highest temperature ever recorded in Germany was 41.2 degrees, measured on July 25, 2019, at the DWD weather stations Tönisvorst and Duisburg-Baerl (both North Rhine-Westphalia).

It's worth noting that other notable high temperatures have been recorded in Germany, such as 39.6 degrees Celsius on June 30, 2019, in Bernburg, Saxony-Anhalt.

Despite the remarkable temperatures being experienced across Germany, Tangerhütte-Demker in Saxony-Anhalt is one of the places that did not set a new national record for the highest temperature on the mentioned day. The second-hottest place nationwide was Tangerhütte-Demker, followed by a third-hottest measured temperature of 39.1 degrees.

In summary, while the temperatures in Tangerhütte-Demker, Saxony-Anhalt, and Kitzingen, Bavaria, are remarkable and among the highest this year, they are still below the all-time German record of 41.2 degrees Celsius from 2019. The current heatwave continues to bring temperatures close to 40 degrees locally, indicating a significant but not yet record-breaking heat event for the region.
