Coming Sunday: The Historic "El Clasico" Match Between Rival Schools Sacred Heart-Ateneo de Cebu and Don Bosco Technical College
Football enthusiasts in Cebu City are eagerly awaiting the forthcoming annual alumni match between legendary rivals Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) and Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC), scheduled for June 1, 2025, at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).
This highly anticipated event, referred to as "Thirsty presents 'El Clasico'," promises a thrilling spectacle between two Cebu powerhouse football schools with a rich tradition and impressive sports programs. According to event organizer, John Pages, "We are thrilled about this historic encounter between two storied football schools in Cebu."
For years, both DBTC and SHS-AdC have been dominating Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) matches and have produced some of the country's top football players. A thrilling contest is anticipated as these alumni return to the field to rekindle their rivalry.
The DBTC squad boasts a blend of talent, featuring current professional players, college standouts, promising young talent, and experienced veterans. Notable names include Kamil Amirul, JK Ceniza, and Erich Orale from Cebu FC; Kenry Balobo from Maharlika Taguig FC; John Clyde Vitualla from Loyola FC; and former Cebu FC player Glen Thomas Ramos.
SHS-AdC's team primarily consists of younger players and veteran talents. Highlighting the lineup are Leo Maquiling, a member of Cebu FC and the Philippine National Team, Kintaro Miyagi from Manila Digger FC, Jack Zambrano from Cebu FC, and former De La Salle University player John Veloso.
The marquee game of the event is the alumni match between DBTC and SHS-AdC. The day will begin with an elementary match between the two schools at 2 p.m., followed by a high school game. The main event will commence at 5:30 p.m.
Chad Songalia, an alumnus of both schools and the visionary behind the historic alumni match, shared that "the alumni players are very excited. They are proud to represent their alma mater once again, especially those who graduated many years ago. The community is also excited about this match."
For the match, SHS-AdC will don blue uniforms, while DBTC will wear white uniforms, as both schools share the same school colors of blue and white.

Tickets for the match will be available at the CCSC for P150, with all proceeds benefiting the varsity programs of SHS-AdC and DBTC.
