High school graduate McKay Madsen from Clovis North earns the title of California's Boys Athlete of the Year.
In a remarkable achievement for Clovis North High School in Fresno, California, athlete McKay Madsen has been named the 2025 State Boys Athlete of the Year by Cal-Hi Sports. This prestigious honour marks the first time a student from Clovis North has received this recognition.
Madsen, a future BYU Cougar, has been a standout in both football and track and field. He was the first team all-state in football and one of the best shot put and discus throwers in state history, qualifying for CIF state track finals since his freshman year.
His accomplishments extend beyond the football field. In 2025, Madsen was named the State Junior Athlete of the Year, further cementing his status as a top Class of 2025 prospect. His sustained excellence throughout his high school career has earned him recognition as one of the state's top athletes, combining speed and versatility.
The 2025 honour comes after a three-year hiatus for the CIF Central Section, with the last winner being Tulare Union running back and track star Kazmeir Allen in 2018. Madsen's win marks the third time an athlete from Clovis Unified has taken home the State Boys Athlete of the Year award.
