Golf Teams Shine in Regional and State Qualifiers
The golf season in Wyoming is heating up, with several teams making their mark in regional meets and setting their sights on the state championships. Here's a roundup of the latest developments.
The 2A State Golf Meet, hosted by Lusk, will see the action unfold in Douglas. Meanwhile, the 3A State Golf Meet will take place in Cody. The 3A East Conference Meet at Torrington saw some impressive performances, with Buffalo's Cooper Meyers finishing 6th individually and Addison Bettinger claiming 3rd place.
In another notable event, the Wright Invitational saw Easton Lewis and Savannah Tremain of Tongue River each claim first place, while Talitha Winfrey finished 3rd on the girls' side. The Tongue River girls team triumphed, and the boys finished a commendable 3rd.
Sheridan High School had a strong showing at the 4A East State Qualifier Meet held at Kendrick Golf Course. Camryn Wagner tied for 6th, Chloe Rose finished 10th, and Hannah Barnes placed 17th, ensuring each qualified for the state meet individually. Cole Bunting and Deacon Webb of Sheridan also finished in a 4-way tie for 5th place in the same meet.
The top 4 teams from the 4A East State Qualifier Meet qualify for the state meet. In a tight race, Sheridan High School secured the qualification, with the Lady Broncs missing 4th place by just 1 stroke behind Cheyenne East. A golfer whose team did not place in the top 4 can still qualify for the state meet if they finish in the top 20.
The 2025 State Golf Meets are scheduled for Friday, September 19th, and Saturday, September 20th. The 4A State Golf Meet will be held in Cheyenne, while the venue for the 2A State Golf Meet has yet to be announced. The 3A State Golf Meet will take place in a location yet to be confirmed as well.
