High-risk fire zones predicted for three specific regions within Komi
In the coming days, the Republic of Komi is bracing for severe weather conditions that may cause challenging fire situations, according to the daily operational forecast. The Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia for the Republic of Komi has issued a high fire danger alert, with some areas reaching the maximum 5 class.
Vladimir Ivanovich Kuznetsov, the head of the main department of EMERCOM Russia in the Komi Republic, has imposed these measures due to the upcoming hazardous weather conditions. He urges the population to take immediate precautions to prevent forest fires.
In case of any emergency situation, please call the single number for calling emergency services, "112" (from stationary phones or mobile devices). If a fire is detected, immediately report it to the emergency service.
To minimise the risk, the population is warned not to use any open flames or sparks in forested areas. This includes avoiding the use of pyrotechnic devices, not throwing away unquenched cigarettes and matches, and not lighting fires, including any equipment, in forests, parks, squares, and places of mass recreation.
Additionally, the population is advised not to allow the burning of dry vegetation and waste. It is also strictly prohibited to play with fire, and to leave bottles or broken glass that can act as a lens and cause a fire.
The areas at extreme danger (5 class) will include Ust-Tsilemsky, Udozrsky districts, and the city of Usiinsk. High danger (4 class) is forecast for Syktyvkar, Ukhta, Priluzsky, Syktyvdin, Knyazhpogostsky, Koygorodsky, Sysolsky, Ust-Vymsky, Kortkerossky, Izhemsky, and Ust-Kulomsky municipalities. Moderate danger (3 class) is expected in the Troitsko-Pechorsky district, as well as Vuktyl and Sosnogorsk. The most favourable situation is in the low danger zone (2 class), which includes only Pechora and Inta municipal formations.
The Directorate recommends limiting visits and stays in forests during this period. The population is advised to stay vigilant and follow these safety measures to ensure the safety of themselves and their communities.
