High priced Wiesn beers reach €15.80 in cost.
Updated Oktoberfest Prices Announced
MUNICH — Munich has revealed price increases for beverages at this year's Oktoberfest. A liter of beer will cost between 14.50 and 15.80 euros, marking an average rise of 3.52 percent compared to 2024's price range of 13.60 to 15.30 euros.
Non-alcoholic beverages will follow suit, with a liter of table water priced at an average of 10.95 euros (a 2.43 euros increase from 2024), Spezi at 12.48 euros (an increase of 2.25 euros), and lemonade at 12.11 euros (a 0.44 euros increase).
The city, as the organizer, checks the prices set by the innkeepers to ensure appropriateness. These prices are compared with those of large catering businesses in Munich, which currently charge between 7.70 euros and 13.40 euros per liter of export beer.
The rise in costs can be attributed to the brewing of Wiesn beer, which is specially produced for the festival with a high alcohol content of around six percent. Additionally, the innkeepers incur expenses for setting up and dismantling tents for the two-week duration of the event, as well as live music.
Peter Inselkammer, spokesperson for the Munich Wiesn innkeepers, referred to the price adjustment as "carefully considered" and explained it as a response to inflation. Innkeeper Christian Schottenhamel further outlined that while price increases are never ideal, they are necessary to ensure fair wages for the festival workers.
Since 2004, beer prices on the Wiesn have almost doubled. The 2025 Munich Oktoberfest is set to begin on September 20 and conclude on October 5. It attracts approximately 6.7 million visitors annually.
