Gosh dangit, we're so desensitized to insane car crashes on social media that even a Ford Mustang smashing into a Ferrari doesn't faze us anymore. But when you witness a Dodge Challenger Scat Pack plowing into a Porsche 911 GT3 RS? Well, that's a whole new level of "What the heck just happened!?" Especially when it unfolds at the famous TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands.
Last weekend, during SuperCar Assen 2025, this wild YouTube video by Carspotter Jeroen went viral. The event showcases racing, a car show, a marketplace, track days, and one massive party! Too bad about the downpour that hit during Sunday's track session. Surprise, surprise, they didn't call a red flag though, given the region's propensity for racing in all kinds of weather.
As you'd expect, the track was soaked in some places, with two Porsche 911 GT3 RSs (one silver and black, the other white and green) leaving the paddock amidst the wet track. You can see them racing along the main straight, branching out with an orange Challenger tagging along (yep, that "splitter guard" still on).
By the 2:20 mark, the rain has picked up considerably, and two different POVs emerge, thanks to Lena_Pink_RS7 and 026_Automotive from the grandstands. The silver Porsche seems to slip, spinning out of control (likely due to hydroplaning). A closer look at an Instagram angle reveals the Porsche driver made a valiant effort to regain control and save their vehicle from serious damage.
But alas, the fun's just begun! A gargantuan American bruiser bearing 4,300 pounds of steel rides up behind the Porsche and bashes it straight against the wall. The damage was devastating, and an ambulance was called in. But where was the Dodge driver during all this chaos? Who knows?
Race Control might've had valid reasons for not bringing a halt to the session before things spiraled out of control, but it's hard to swallow given Europe's flagship tracks usually follow strict safety protocols. While some drivers might be seasoned enough to handle such conditions, the track was flooded in some areas, making it impossible for even the best drivers to avoid aquaplaning. Plus, with weather changing in a flash, organizers possibly weren't prepared for the sudden influx of standing water on the track.
