Hezbollah's Nasrallah Warns of Escalation Possibilities

In his first public statement since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah acknowledged that all possibilities in the Lebanese front remain on the table. An escalation, he suggested, is a realistic prospect, hinging on the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.

By the radical Islamic Hezbollah militia's side, Iran provides support, and they operate from Lebanon against Israel. Nasrallah did not mention a large-scale attack on Israel but underscored that the Hamas assault on Israel on October 7 was "100 percent Palestinian." Simultaneously, he placed blame on the USA for the current turbulence in the Gaza Strip, decrying it as a "decisive battle." Israel, he asserted, would not achieve its objectives.

The Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, intends to dismantle Hamas with the ongoing campaign in the Gaza Strip. Based on Israeli data, around 1,400 people, largely civilian casualties, fell victim to Hamas fighters' attack four weeks prior, and approximately 240 hostages have been held captive in the Gaza Strip since then.

Given the ongoing Gaza Strip conflict, Nasrallah, the Hezbollah leader, pointed out the escalation's potential, commenting that it is a "realistic possibility." Although he did not directly threaten a major attack on Israel, Nasrallah reiterated that the recent Hamas action was solely Palestinian and criticized the United States for stoking the dispute's flames.
