Get ready for a week-long extravaganza as the much-anticipated Hessentag, a celebrated cultural festival in Hesse, Germany, officially commences in the picturesque town of Bad Vilbel on Friday! In the heart of the action, Minister President Boris Rhein and Bad Vilbel's Mayor Sebastian Wysocki (both CDU) will grace the event with their presence, officiating the 62nd edition of the state festival at midday.

Kickstarting the festivities earlier, Hessen's Minister of the Environment Ingmar Jung (CDU) is set to unveil the mesmerizing special exhibition "On the Trail of Nature" at 10:00 AM. Fast forward to Friday evening, and the iconic rock band Rodgau Monotones will take center stage with their hit "Have Mercy, Too Late, the Hessian is Coming."

Under the motto "Bringing Hessen to the Stage," Bad Vilbel opens its doors to an extensive roster of more than 1,600 events, keeping the momentum going until June 22. The town, a stone's throw from Frankfurt, promises an unforgettable experience as it gears up to host Hessentag for the first time, an event initially scheduled for 2020 but postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organizers are optimistic about attracting around 750,000 visitors—nearly double the attendees of the previous Hessentag in Fritzlar, who welcomed 519,000 guests last year. A dynamic mix of Bundeswehr presentations, various organizations, clubs, and groups, and sports activities ensures there's something for everyone at this year's Hessentag, which has been held annually since 1961, when it was initiated by the then Minister President Georg August Zinn (SPD).
