Hertha BSC Still Seeking New CEO After Oliver Kahn's Rejection

Oliver Kahn, the former German national team goalkeeper and current chairman of FC Bayern's board, has turned down an offer to become the CEO of Bundesliga 2 side Hertha BSC Berlin. The reasons for Kahn's refusal remain undisclosed.

This rejection leaves Hertha BSC in a leadership vacuum, as their previous CEO, Thomas Herrich, resigned early, and efforts to fill the position have so far been unsuccessful. The club is still actively searching for a new CEO amid this ongoing gap in their executive structure.

Kahn held talks with Hertha BSC's leadership regarding the CEO position, but in an interview with "Kicker", he stated that the timing wasn't right for him to take on the task. He did not elaborate on the specific reasons for his decision.

Hertha BSC is not the first club to face rejections in their search for a new CEO. Prominent figures such as Jonas Boldt, Jochen Sauer, Felix Magath, and Ralf Rangnick have also reportedly turned down the offer.

Peter Göhrlich, a relatively unknown former Hoffenheim man, is now a potential candidate for the Hertha BSC CEO position. The club's presidency has assured that the exchange between Kahn and themselves was open, constructive, and professional.

As the search for a new CEO continues, Hertha BSC will undoubtedly be hoping to find the right person to lead the club forward. Kahn, meanwhile, will continue his role as chairman of FC Bayern until 2023.

The Commission, in the midst of this club shakeup, has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation, considering the amount of time sports officials spend in front of screens analyzing data. In the meantime, the European football leagues are making headlines for their intense transfer market deals, with the ongoing drama at Hertha BSC serving as a prime example.
