Hertha's Niederlechner Pushes for Winning Spirit

Striker Florian Niederlechner is advocating for a stronger winning mentality within the Hertha BSC squad as they gear up for the upcoming season. "It's a blast, alas our tally of points isn't quite where it needs to be. Yet, there's an evident uptrend," Niederlechner stated at a recent press conference, eyeing their away game against Hannover 96 (6:30pm/Sky) on the 9th of February. "We need to build upon this trend, but our focus must shift to a more triumphant attitude. If we can infuse that component, we might outshine a few predictions," he went on to say.

With 17 points and the 12th spot in the league, the team finds themselves five points behind the fourth-ranked Hannover 96 side from Lower Saxony's capital.

Emotional about his recent scoring streak, Niederlechner shared, "Initially, I didn't receive ample playing time in the initial fixtures. But I stand comfortable in my experience and lent support to the ambitious youngsters, not wavering in training." He was a notable element in their 3-0 victory against Mainz and has since secured his spot as the team's goalscorer-extraordinaire, half of a number-nine shirt.

Cherishing the scoring success against Karlsruhe, Niederlechner now hopes for a chain reaction, akin to the ketchup bottle phenomenon - the more he scores or sets up goals, the harder it becomes to oust him from the team.

Reflecting on his challenging stint since shifting from Augsburg to Berlin earlier this year, Niederlechner acknowledged a pinch of guilt but approaches each match with renewed determination. "You can't compare it to the previous season. Last time around, we lacked unity, and we were a collection of disorganized elements. That's why we experienced relegation," he reminisced.

Despite their current 12th-place position, the seasoned attacker doesn't let it phase him, "We're just hovering around the 12th spot - absolutely tranquil. All I currently see is the three valuable points," he reiterated.

While Niederlechner fails to detail the specifics of the transformation or strategy in the interview, fan insights suggest a focus on possessing the ball, creating opportunities, and enhancing their defensive gridwork. However, their inconsistency on the road continues to persist as an obstacle in their journey toward better performance.
