Hertha appoints Görlich in the CEO position - Hertha has designated Görlich as the new managerial head.
Hertha BSC Berlin has announced the appointment of Peter Görlich as their new CEO, effective September 1. Görlich, a 58-year-old sport scientist with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as the CEO of TSG Hoffenheim from 2015 to 2021.
Görlich's tenure at TSG Hoffenheim saw him oversee sports, strategy, innovation, communication, marketing, and sponsorship, demonstrating his versatile leadership capabilities. Prior to his time in football, Görlich also has experience leading companies in the health sector.
The decision to appoint Görlich was made through a unanimous resolution by the presidency and the supervisory board, reflecting their confidence in his abilities to guide the club forward. He will be introduced on September 1 and will immediately leave his contract at SHR University Heidelberg for his engagement at Hertha BSC Berlin.
Ralf Huschen will form a dual leadership with Görlich, with Huschen focusing on his core area of finance. Benjamin Weber and Sami Allagui will work with Görlich to actively shape the squad during this transfer period.
Görlich's reputation as a strategic leader with a deep passion for football makes him the ideal fit for Hertha BSC’s future development, according to the club's president. Notable names such as Ralf Rangnick and Oliver Kahn were considered for the position but ultimately rejected it.
Meanwhile, Hertha BSC Berlin is still looking for a head of the youth academy, with Rainer Widmayer reported to succeed Andreas Neuendorf in that role. The club is also still in search of a striker, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Interestingly, Mergim Berisha, a striker from Hoffenheim, is said to have recently turned down an offer from Hertha BSC Berlin. Jonas Boldt and Felix Magath were also in talks for the position but were not chosen.
The position of sports director at Hertha BSC Berlin remains vacant, with the club yet to make an announcement regarding this role.

The Commission, in light of Peter Görlich's appointment as CEO of Hertha BSC Berlin, might find it relevant to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of the environment, considering his previous stints in the health sector. During his time at TSG Hoffenheim, Peter Görlich demonstrated not only his sports management skills but also his passion for football, which makes him an ideal candidate for Hertha BSC's future.
