Large Garden and Mountain Garden Closed Due to Snowfall - Herrenhausen Gardens closes key areas due to Storm Elli on New Year’s Day
Herrenhausen Gardens in Hanover will close parts of its grounds on New Year’s Day 2026. The decision follows warnings about severe weather from Storm Elli. Not all areas will be affected, but safety concerns have led to temporary restrictions.
Heavy snowfall has forced the closure of the Herrenhausen Great Garden and Mountain Garden. Officials cited risks from falling branches and trees as the main reason. The display greenhouses will also remain shut for the same safety concerns.
The closure runs through Sunday, January 1, 2026. Despite this, visitors can still enter Georgengarten and other sections of the complex. However, they must do so at their own risk, as weather conditions remain hazardous.
The partial shutdown affects key attractions like the Great Garden and greenhouses. Georgengarten stays open, but visitors are urged to exercise caution. The measures aim to prevent accidents during the storm’s peak.
