The County Election Committee in Herford County has announced the results of the local elections held on September 17, 2025. The UWG-Kreis and Die PARTEI did not win any seats in this election.
In the race for the County Commissioner, no candidate received over 50 percent of the votes, necessitating a runoff election on September 28. The runoff election will be between Mirco Schmidt (CDU) and Frank Diembeck (SPD / Alliance 90/The Greens).

Mail-in voting "on-site" can only begin on September 18.
The district administrator, Jürgen Müller, who is not running for re-election this year, will serve as the chief election officer for the runoff election. The district election committee consists of the chief election officer as chairman, 10 deputy members, and administrative staff.
The voter turnout for the elections was 57.38 percent, with a total of 114,024 voters participating. The number of eligible voters, actual voters, valid and invalid votes will be reviewed before the runoff election.
Polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on September 28 at the same location as the first election. The election committee can only correct calculation errors in the statements of the election officials. They are bound to their decisions, except for noting concerns in the minutes.
The search results do not provide the name of the Chief Election Officer for the referendum election on September 28, 2025, in Herford County. Voters will need to present their voter notification or personal ID to vote in the referendum as well. No new voter notifications will be sent out, only those received before the first election will be valid.
