Here's our initial peek at Battlefield 6, delivering just as anticipated

The anticipation for Battlefield 6 is building, as Electronic Arts (EA) has announced the official release of the game's trailer, and the open beta participation requirements are now available. Here's what you need to know to join the action.

Battlefield 6 Open Beta Participation Requirements

The open beta for Battlefield 6 will be accessible on various platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Steam, Epic Games Store, and EA app. For PC players, a minimum system of an Nvidia RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT GPU, 16GB of RAM, and an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 CPU is required to run the game at 1080p 30 FPS.

To target 60 FPS at 1440p on high settings, and 80+ FPS at 1080p on low settings, the recommended system specs are more demanding. EA's Javelin kernel-level anti-cheat system, which requires specific security features like TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, Hypervisor-Protected Code Integrity (HVCI), and Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) enabled on your PC, is also a prerequisite.

The open beta will launch in two weekends: August 9-10 and August 14-17, 2025. An early access closed beta starting around August 7 will be available only to Twitch Drop recipients and Battlefield Labs squad members.

Sign-up and Access Process

To join the open beta, players do not need a special code; it is open to all players on the supported platforms during the dates mentioned once they preload the beta (preload started August 4, 15:00 UTC). Preloading the beta on PC can be done via Steam, Epic Games Store, or the EA app starting August 4 to be ready to play once the beta launches.

Early access beta requires obtaining a code through Twitch Drops by watching select creators streaming the reveal or related content on Twitch before August 7.

Looking Ahead

Battlefield 6 appears to return to the single-player mode, which was missing in Battlefield 2042. EA seems to have high faith in the game, following the rocky launch of Battlefield 2042. The multiplayer reveal, scheduled for July 31, may provide details on maps, weapons, and vehicles for Battlefield 6.

EA has hinted at a free-to-play battle royale mode in Battlefield 6, which could potentially attract a large number of players. However, the traditional gameplay modes will require payment, unlike the free-to-play battle royale mode.

The Battlefield 6 trailer suggests a focus on high-intensity infantry combat, aerial dogfights, and environmental destruction. The single-player mode of Battlefield 6 features a storyline about a private military company called Pax Armata, pursuing the destruction of NATO and its allies. The specific details about the single-player gameplay in Battlefield 6 are yet to be revealed.

Battlefield 6 faces competition from Delta Force, a free-to-play game. EA expects Battlefield 6 to attract more than 100 million players, surpassing the performance of its previous titles barely exceeding 30 million players. The worldwide multiplayer reveal for Battlefield 6 is scheduled for July 31.
