Attend the Latest Haute Couture Spectacle at Paris Fashion Week

This year, brands like Dior, Chanel, and Zuhair Murad will present their live collections. Balenciaga will also join in the fun, launching their first Haute Couture line since the 1960s!

Pyer Moss, the groundbreaking New York fashion label, is poised to make history. Their creative director, Kerby Jean-Raymond, will become the first Black American designer to showcase at the Paris Haute Couture Week. The event's location is none other than the former C.J. Walker home, a testament to the brand's heritage and dedication to inclusivity. The festivities will conclude with a live broadcast from the venue on Friday evening, French time.

C.J. Walker was born in 1867 and left an indelible mark in the world of beauty and entrepreneurship. This self-made businesswoman and social activist amassed a fortune by creating a range of haircare and beauty products specifically for black women.

Schiaparelli will open the week by unveiling its new collection through a digital video presentation. Other brands set to introduce new lines include Iris Van Herpen, Giorgio Armani, and Fendi.

Haute Couture is regarded as the pinnacle of fashion. The exquisite garments are expertly crafted by skilled artisans, with the completion of some pieces taking weeks or even months. Twice a year, in January and July, these lavish events take place. The clothes debuted on the runway may later be spotted gracing the red carpet, including at the Oscars.

Although Pyer Moss is set to make its mark at the Paris Haute Couture Week, it is not the first Black American designer to achieve this milestone. That distinction belongs to Patrick Kelly, an influential figure in fashion history, who became the first Black person and the first American designer accepted into the Chambre Syndicale du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode in 1988.

Pyer Moss has made a name for itself in the fashion world with its innovative and socially conscious designs, often incorporating elements of African American culture and social justice into its collections. The brand has featured prominently at various events, such as the New York Fashion Week, and has received critical acclaim for its work[1].
