Crime-Fighting Heroes Honored by "Aktenzeichen XY"
Recognizing four brave individuals, the ZDF program "Aktenzeichen XY...Ungelöst" presented the "XY Prize - Together against Crime," valued at 10,000 euros each, during a ceremony in Berlin. Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser commended these courageous individuals hailing from North Rhine-Westphalia for their "bravery and intelligence" in standing up against criminal activities. The minister encouraged everyone, "Take notice if something looks odd to you, and call for help."
In the first instance, a woman in Aachen courageously saved another woman from a rapist in 2022. In the second story, a parcel carrier from Syria in Mülheim bravely intervened to protect an elderly woman when a mentally ill perpetrator aimed to stab her with a knife. The heroic man pursued and overpowered the perpetrator for the safety of others.
On New Year's Eve 2022, a man and woman in Bochum independently called the police to save a homeless man, who had been beaten and tortured by two perpetrators for over two hours. Regrettably, more than 50 witnesses saw the crime but did not intervene.
These award-winning heroes will share their inspiring stories during the live show "Aktenzeichen XY...Ungelöst" on November 29, where they will talk with presenter Rudi Cerne about their courageous actions.
Their acts against crime have garnered attention beyond the television series, as they continue to serve as inspiring figures in their communities. Recently, a popular television series devoted an entire episode to explore their remarkable stories in detail.
Although a German television program, "Aktenzeichen XY...Ungelöst" focuses on unsolved crimes and often awards prizes to individuals who contribute to resolving these cases. Typically, such award winners are featured on the program itself, allowing viewers to learn more about their contributions in the fight against crime.
