Helldivers 2 and Halo 3: ODST Cross Over Announced
In a surprising turn of events, the world of Helldivers and Halo is set to collide, as Arrowhead Game Studios announced a crossover event between Helldivers 2 and Halo 3: ODST. This exciting announcement marks the first time that the two franchises have come together, and it's set to launch on Xbox Series X/S on August 26, 2025.
The crossover, dubbed the Legendary Warbond, will feature a host of content inspired by Halo 3: ODST. Players can expect to get their hands on classic Halo weapons such as the MA5C Assault Rifle, M7S SMG, M90A Shotgun, and M6C/SOCOM Pistol, complete with suppressors for stealth gameplay.
Two armor sets, rebranded as the "Obedient Democracy Support Troopers" or "Helljumpers," will also be introduced. These sets come with the "Feet First" armor passive, which grants immunity to leg injuries, quieter movement, and a 30% increased range for point-of-interest discovery, emphasizing stealth and reconnaissance.
Additional Halo-themed cosmetics like capes, player banners, vehicle skins, and a player title will also be available, bundled within the Warbond that costs 1,500 Super Credits, earnable through gameplay.
The crossover event is a perfect fit given the thematic synergy between the franchises and the expansion of Helldivers 2 onto Xbox, where Halo is a flagship series. The crossover content is a timed event, officially set to release on the same day as Helldivers 2's launch on Xbox.
Interestingly, the crossover event is teased by the combination of a moody downpour and familiar jazz notes in the new trailer for Helldivers 2. The jazz-influenced soundtrack and noir-esque setting of Halo 3: ODST share an enormous amount of aesthetic similarity with Helldivers.
It's not just Sony-owned PlayStation Studios that are making the move to other platforms. In a reciprocal move, Xbox is bringing some of its games to PlayStation, such as Forza Horizon 5. Helldivers 2 is already available on Windows PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5, and will support full cross-play across all three platforms.
