The wreckage of a German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) helicopter, which crashed near Grimma, Saxony, during a low-altitude training flight on July 29, 2025, has been recovered. The EC135 model helicopter, rented by the German Air Force for pilot training, lost control and plunged into the Mulde River, resulting in the tragic deaths of two experienced crew members from the Air Force's Helicopter Wing 64.

The crash took place during a routine training flight, and the reasons for the loss of control remain under investigation. The bodies of the two deceased crew members were recovered from the river, while a third crew member is still missing. An ongoing search operation involving more than 100 emergency responders, including police divers, is underway to locate this individual.

To prevent further environmental damage, a boom has been deployed to contain kerosene leaking from the helicopter wreckage in the river. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius visited the site, expressing condolences and emphasizing that a thorough investigation into the accident's circumstances is being conducted.
