2025 Heisman Trophy Odds Update: Manning's Struggles Open Door for Contenders

The race for the 2025 Heisman Trophy is heating up, with several players making a strong case for the coveted award. However, the early favourite, Arch Manning of the Texas Longhorns, has seen a significant drop in his odds following a rough start to the season.

Manning, who initially held odds of +950, has struggled with a 55.3% completion rate and has failed to live up to the hype in the Longhorns' 2-1 start. As a result, his Heisman odds have plummeted to +3500 at DraftKings.

Meanwhile, other quarterbacks are making a strong push for the trophy. LSU's Garrett Nussmeier, who has received the second-most support at the book, has seen his odds rise to +1500 at BetMGM after Manning's struggles. Nussmeier, backed by 10.2 percent of all money wagered, has shown promise in his performances.

Oklahoma's John Mateer is another contender, holding the second-shortest odds at +900 at BetMGM and +800 at DraftKings. Mateer has been consistent in his performances, providing a strong foundation for the Sooners' offence.

In the underdog category, LaNorris Sellers of the South Carolina Gamecocks is a name to watch. Sellers, who opened the season with the second-shortest odds at +700, has impressed with 337 yards and a pair of touchdown passes in the Gamecocks' 2-0 start. However, his status for the game against Missouri is uncertain due to a concussion suffered in Week 2.

Other longshots include Marcel Reed of Texas A&M, who has odds of +1500 at DraftKings, and DJ Lagway of Florida, who has odds of +20000 at BetMGM.

In the non-quarterback category, Jeremiah Smith of Ohio State holds the shortest odds at +1600. Smith, an Ohio State wide receiver, has been a key player in the Buckeyes' offence this season.

As the season progresses, the race for the Heisman Trophy is expected to tighten up. Keep an eye on these contenders as they battle it out for college football's most prestigious individual award.
