Heimertingen Brass Band dazzles with Nordic-themed spring concert spectacle
A packed hall gathered for the Heimertingen Brass Band's spring concert, where Nordic-themed music took centre stage. The evening featured a mix of dramatic pieces, film scores, and lively encores, all under the direction of conductor Stefan Mayer.
The concert began with the Illertal Junior Orchestra, whose young musicians set an energetic tone. Their performance showcased both skill and enthusiasm, warming up the crowd for the main event.
The Heimertingen Brass Band then opened with *Return of the Vikings*, a bold and stirring piece. Matthias Wehr's *Throne of the North* followed, depicting a fierce battle against Viking invaders. The audience also heard familiar melodies like *How to Train Your Dragon* and *Lord of the Dance*, alongside the emotional *For the Love of a Princess* and the sweeping *The Castle in the Highlands*. After the intermission, the band returned with Elgar's grand *Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1*. The evening closed on a high note with three traditional sea shanties, *Seasongs*, and ABBA's *Waterloo* as encores. The concert also recognised three dedicated members. Matthias Zettler was honoured for 30 years of service, while Alfred Geier and Wolfgang Schuster each celebrated 40 years with the band.
