GNTM 2025: The Lowdown
Heidi Klum makes her final selection: Six models advance to Germany's Next Topmodel finale - Heidi Klum has selected the finalists for Germany's Next Topmodel, numbering six.
As the candidates reflect on their gatecrashers past and watch their initial audition videos for the 20th season of Germany's Next Topmodel (GNTM), memories flood back. Jannik recalls being bullied for his love of hip-hop dancing, while Magdalena shares tales of her school-day torment. Canel speaks candidly about the tragic discovery of her father's overdose at the tender age of 19.
Once they've shared their emotional baggage, the contestants brace themselves for the final photo shoot of the season - the cover of the prestigious "Harper's Bazaar" magazine. Guest judge Kerstin Schneider, editor-in-chief of the mag, joined Heidi Klum on the judges' panel as the models strutted their stuff in front of a vintage blue car, embodying the "Roadmovie" theme.
Moritz proved a delight, impressing Klum with his natural talent. Jannik and Pierre received resounding praise, with Kerstin Schneider left speechless by Pierre's performance. Zoe and Magdalena held their own, although Magdalena struggled when the rain began to fall, while Canel and Eliob faced criticism for their poses and lack of expression, respectively.
Controversy in the Workroom
The latest episode of the show saw Heidi Klum transforming it into a "Shopping Queen" extravaganza, treating the models to a shopping spree and giving them a budget of 500 euros to dress themselves. In pairs, the contestants had a mere two hours to put together two outfits, one for daytime and one for evening wear. Money was no object, and Canel relished the experience, calling herself a "rich bitch." However, Pierre expressed his disdain for shopping sprees, admitting that he found the process overwhelming and stressful.
Guest Judging
Since 2018, Harper's Bazaar has been the magazine gracing the covers of Germany's Next Topmodel winners. In 2024, Jermaine Kokou Kothe became the first man to claim the title, and the issue with him on the cover was a runaway success. Kerstin Schneider, editor-in-chief of "Harper's Bazaar," was in attendance to evaluate the performances of the finalists, not only during the photo shoot but also during the show, where the models presented their carefully crafted outfits.
The women set the bar high. Zoe donned a leopard top and jeans, earning praise from Klum, who reminisced about her own youth. Magdalena's look - hoodie and miniskirt - drew comparisons to Lou Klum's school outfit. Canel's denim skirt and pink top, however, left Klum believing it was too ordinary, referencing a trip to the supermarket. Daniela, too, faced criticism for her lackluster outfits.
Moritz shone among the men, while Jannik's black suit with bow tie garnered criticism for being too stripper-esque. Pierre and Eliob didn't make a strong impact, with poor outfit choices amplified by Eliob's ill-fitting jacket. His decision to return a shirt and shoes to make up the shortfall in his budget was the final nail in his coffin, sealing his elimination with Klum and Schneider.
Farewell to Two Finalists
In a dramatic elimination, Klum announced that Canel and Eliob had missed out on the finale, leaving only six contestants to battle it out for the GNTM crown. The finalists include Magdalena, Zoe, Daniela, Moritz, Pierre, and Jannik. The grand finale will take place live in Cologne on June 19, 2025.
