Heavy Snowstorm Disrupts Munich with Falling Trees and Blocked Roads

Thursday, February 19, 2026, 1:00 PM – City Area The forecasted snowfall reached Bavaria's state capital over the course of the day. Despite persistent snow, the fire department recorded relatively few weather-related callouts.

Precipitation beginning around 1:00 PM turned in places into heavy, wet snow, which accumulated on trees and shrubs and placed significant strain on individual branches. From Thursday at 3:00 PM to Friday at 9:30 AM, firefighters responded to a total of 15 snow-related incidents across the city. The majority of operations involved broken or at-risk branches blocking streets and sidewalks. Munich Fire Department crews handled all callouts swiftly and with minimal effort. There were no disruptions to emergency operations, as the number of incidents remained comparatively low.

No injuries were reported during the operations. The fire department was unable to provide an estimate of property damage.
