Trucks temporarily stuck on snowy A71 - Heavy snow traps lorries on Germany’s A71 motorway near Mellrichstadt

Heavy snow brought traffic to a halt on the A71 motorway in Lower Franconia on Tuesday. Several lorries became trapped on an uphill stretch near Mellrichstadt in the Rhön-Grabfeld district, where snowflakes accumulated rapidly, causing a temporary standstill. No injuries were reported during the incident. Emergency crews were called in to clear the affected section, allowing the lorries to resume their journeys after a delay. The Autobahn GmbH des Bundes, responsible for maintenance in North Bavaria, oversaw this part of the A71 and worked to restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible. The incident disrupted travel but ended without any reported accidents. Lorries were able to continue once the snowflakes were removed from the motorway. Authorities have not yet announced any further measures for the area.
