Snow slows down buses in East Frisia - Schools affected - Heavy snow shuts down East Frisia’s schools and bus networks indefinitely

Heavy snowfall has caused major disruptions across East Frisia, halting bus services and forcing schools to close early. The severe weather has left transport networks struggling, with no clear timeline for when normal operations will resume.

All local bus routes in Wittmund came to a stop from 2 p.m. as snow made roads unsafe. The sudden suspension left many passengers stranded, with no alternative transport available.

Schools in Wittmund, Aurich, and Leer took swift action to protect students. Afternoon classes were cancelled, and pupils were sent home after the sixth period. Buses were arranged to transport them safely before conditions worsened.

Despite the measures, uncertainty remains. Authorities have yet to announce when bus services will restart or how lessons will continue in the coming days.

The snow has forced schools to adjust schedules and left transport services paralysed. Residents now await updates on when buses will run again and how education will proceed. For now, travel remains difficult, and disruptions are likely to continue.
