Heavy rains, thunderstorms, and hail predicted for Moscow, according to forecasters, signaling abnormal weather conditions.

Rain in June isn't exactly an unusual occurrence, especially in Moscow and the surrounding regions. It's just another day in the life of this damp capital during the summer months. Tatyana Pozdnyakova, a meteorologist at the info agency "Meteonovosti", confirmed this to KP.RU:

  • Classic summer weather! Typically, 6-7 days in June are rainy and stormy, but look out for those thunderclouds in July and August too.

Summer is all warmth and sunshine, but it can also feel like a rollercoaster ride when it comes to the weather. Unstable weather conditions are par for the course, with clouds piling high and dropping buckets when you least expect it. And while it might seem extreme, it's just the boundary between warm and cold fronts causing all the commotion.

Moscow weather can be erratic, with gusty winds and heavy downpours that sometimes leave the city awash. Last Sunday was no different, with rain pelting the city and hail pelting parts of the region. But fear not, this isn't the sign of an impending doomsday. Kutuzovsky Prospekt, it seems, is always a hotbed for heavy rain and flash floods, with the streets better equipped to handle a steady drizzle rather than a sudden, torrential downpour.

As for the hail, it can be a bit of a localized phenomenon. One street might be covered in ice balls, while the next might be completely dry. And if you thought those hailstones were freakishly large, there have been reports of hailstones as big as chicken eggs in other parts of the region.

But don't fret, tomorrow should be a repeat of today - warm, stormy, and just a bit unpredictable. And after that, things will start to get better. They always do, eventually.
