Heavy rainfall in Al Ain, coinciding with the UAE's record-breaking high of 47.4°C, with further showers anticipated for the following day.

It's been a wet day in parts of Al Ain and Fujairah, as the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued a weather alert for convective cloud formation. This weather alert warns of possible rainfall over these regions until 8pm tonight.

The formation of convective clouds is associated with sudden bursts of rain, and the winds in the region will range from light to moderate, blowing Southeasterly to Northeasterly at speeds of 10 to 25 km/h, gusting up to 40 km/h. These winds might cause blowing dust in exposed areas.

As you navigate the wet roads, it's crucial to drive with caution. Key tips include driving slower than usual, increasing the distance from the vehicle ahead, and using your indicators clearly when changing lanes to ensure visibility to others. Avoid sudden braking or sharp maneuvers to prevent skidding, and be especially cautious of hydroplaning when water pools on the road. Cleaning your windows and keeping a firm grip on the steering wheel also help maintain control in wet conditions.

When rain begins, slow down immediately, as initial moisture can mix with oil and dust to make roads very slippery. When visibility is low, do not use hazard lights while moving; reserve them for when stopped safely at the roadside. Leave extra travel time since rain will slow traffic and road conditions. It's also advisable to avoid driving unless necessary during heavy rain to minimize risk, and stay alert to changing road behavior of others.

The NCM's prediction for fair to partly cloudy weather still holds for Sunday. Sweihan in Al Ain recorded the highest temperature in the UAE at 47.4°C today. The sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.

There is a chance of convective clouds forming by afternoon in eastern and southern regions on Sunday, which may bring more rainfall. The NCM predicts fair to partly cloudy weather for Sunday.
