Rainy Woes in Andhra Pradesh

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of continued rainfall and thunderstorms in several districts of Andhra Pradesh until May 7. Recently, unseasonal heavy rain has caused chaos, leading to tragic outcomes.

Ten individuals lost their lives due to unfortunate incidents, such as lightning strikes (9 of them) and one from a fallen tree trunk [4]. In Kajuluru village, Kakinada district, a whopping 100mm of rain was recorded, with other regions like Chittoor, Prakasam, Guntur, and Krishna districts also experiencing heavy downpours [4].

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has alerted residents that the state will face fluctuating weather conditions until May 7, with some areas experiencing heatwaves while others contend with rain and thunderstorms [4]. With damage to standing crops reported across numerous hectares, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has issued directives to swiftly assess the damage and compensate farmers as needed [4].

Orange Alert in Telangana
