Heavy Rain and Flooding Threaten Northern Vietnam and Thailand
Residents in northern, northeastern, and eastern Vietnam, as well as parts of Thailand, are bracing for heavy rain and potential flooding. A tropical depression in the Pacific Ocean, possibly storm number 11, is expected to bring heavy rainfall and trigger flash floods, runoff, and river overflows.
The tropical depression, currently designated #93W, is anticipated to intensify and move into the South China Sea. It is forecast to make landfall in northern Vietnam between October 5-6, bringing heavy rain and accumulated rainfall that could cause flash floods and urban flooding on October 6-7. Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious and take necessary precautions.
In Thailand, heavy rainfall is expected over the next 24 hours, particularly in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Tak. The tropical depression east of the Philippines is expected to strengthen and move into the upper South China Sea during October 3-4, potentially affecting areas near Vietnam around that time.
Weather authorities are closely monitoring the situation, with the tropical depression in the Pacific Ocean expected to strengthen into a new storm. Residents in affected areas are urged to stay updated and follow safety guidelines to ensure their well-being during this period of heavy rainfall and potential flooding.
