India Weather Forecast for May 24-27, 2025: Widespread Rainfall with Heavy to Very Heavy Rain

India is bracing for widespread rainfall activity over the next few days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast. Here's a breakdown of the expected weather conditions across various regions:

Southern and Western Coastal India

Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra (including Pune), and Marathwada can expect fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) from May 24 to 27. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is expected over Konkan and Goa on May 24 and 25, while Madhya Maharashtra, including Pune, may face heavy to very heavy rain on May 25.

Kerala, Karnataka, Coastal Maharashtra, and parts of Madhya Maharashtra are forecast to experience isolated extremely heavy rainfall around May 26 and 27, especially over Kerala, Konkan (including Mumbai), ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.

Northern India and Delhi-NCR

While detailed forecasts for Delhi and north India for these exact dates are limited, there is an indication of monsoon onset and light to moderate rain in the region in the nearby time frame. However, the main heavy rainfall alerts seem focused on southern and western states for late May.

Central India

Madhya Pradesh is forecast to have thunderstorms and gusty winds up to 70 kmph.

Interior Regions

Heatwave conditions will prevail in parts of Rajasthan, Jammu, and nearby regions until May 27.

Karnataka and Kerala

Very heavy rainfall is expected in South Interior Karnataka from May 24 to 27, and extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Kerala & Mahe from May 24 to 26. Coastal Karnataka can also expect extremely heavy rainfall from May 24 to 27.

Eastern India

Bihar and Odisha may experience isolated heavy rain and squally weather. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may experience heavy rain on May 28-29.

Northwest India

Temperatures are expected to rise by 2-4°C in parts of northwest India over the next two days.

Other Regions

Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema are expected to see strong winds and isolated extreme rainfall by May 26-27. Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand may experience thunderstorms and hail on May 24, with heavy rain in Uttarakhand from May 24-29. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands are expected to have heavy rain from May 24 to 26.
