Individual from Alaska miraculously avoids injury as he's pinned down by a massive 700-pound rock for a three-hour stretch during a trek in a secluded region last weekend.

Heavy glacier creek incident leaves man pinned face-down under a 700-pound rock for a extended duration of three hours in Alaska.

An Alaska man, Kell Morris, miraculously survived being pinned by a 700-pound boulder for three hours in an icy creek, sustaining only minor injuries. This extraordinary survival was partly due to his wife's quick thinking and an abundance of good fortune.

The incident occurred during a hike near a remote glacier south of Anchorage. Morris was traversing a rocky creek bed when he encountered unstable grounds. He tumbled down an embankment, landing face-first in the water, and the boulder crashed onto him.

His wife, Jo Roop, a retired Alaska State Trooper, kept his head above water until rescuers arrived. Their lucky break came when a sled dog tourism company overheard the 911 call and offered their helicopter to transport the rescuers to the inaccessible scene, saving precious time.

Upon arrival, seven rescuers used inflatable air bags to lift the boulder, freeing Morris who was drifting in and out of consciousness. Morris expressed his gratitude, acknowledging himself as one of the luckiest men alive and crediting his wife's heroics.

The couple, who recently moved from Idaho, had chosen to hike near Godwin Glacier to avoid the holiday crowds on the Kenai Peninsula. Despite the unfortunate incident, they plan to resume hiking but will stick to established trails in the future.

This incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers when hiking off-trail, especially near glaciers, and the importance of staying alert, hiking with a partner, and having proper communication equipment. Being pinned by boulders in such terrain is a rare occurrence, but being prepared and cautious can make all the difference.
