Heavy fog and rain delay opening of key city road stretch

Roadworks in a major city have been disrupted by uncooperative weather, leading to delays in opening a key stretch to traffic. Overnight rainfall and persistent high fog have left the pavement too damp for road markings, which are typically applied manually and require dry conditions. Straßen.NRW, the state's road authority, had planned to complete the road marking work between Friday and Sunday. However, the wet conditions have forced them to postpone the task. The manual nature of the process means the roads must be completely dry for the markings to be applied effectively. Despite the setback, Straßen.NRW remains optimistic. They now aim to have the stretch open to traffic by early next week, once the pavement has dried sufficiently. The temporary closure of the road is expected to continue until the weather improves and the road markings can be safely applied. Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and check for updates before travelling. Straßen.NRW is committed to ensuring the safety of all road users and will reopen the stretch as soon as possible.
