Heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has disrupted essential services, affecting thousands of people across the state. The Meteorological Department had forecasted continued rainfall until July 15, 2025.

The situation has resulted in damage to infrastructure, with 20 roads, 217 power transformers, and 143 drinking water schemes being non-functional as of early July. Mandi district is one of the worst-affected areas.

However, recovery efforts are underway. In Mandi, round-the-clock efforts have led to the temporary restoration of 189 out of 291 disrupted water supply systems. Additionally, 23 local roads have been partially reopened, and work continues to restore power and road infrastructure.

In the Electricity Sub-Division Janjehli, 162 out of 202 damaged consumer transformers have been repaired. The Chhatri area has seen all 78 transformers restored, ensuring uninterrupted electricity.

The Himachal Pradesh administration is working tirelessly to restore normalcy, deploying heavy machinery and teams from various departments like the Public Works Department and the Electricity Board. The restoration of most of these water supply schemes is expected by today evening, with the remaining to be restored within a day.

The government has allocated Rs. 35.17 crore for restoring essential services in the state. Adequate men and machinery have been ordered to ensure the earliest reopening of the remaining roads.

To ensure effective communication facilities during natural calamities, 15 Satellite phones will be provided at all district headquarters and three tribal subdivisions of the state. The BSNL authorities have been directed to ensure the restoration of their services at the earliest to avoid communication inconvenience.

While the search results do not specifically mention directions from Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur regarding the restoration efforts following heavy rainfall, it is noted that the state government is actively involved in coordinating relief efforts under the leadership of the state administration.

The number of roads closed due to rain in the state is now 988, with 204 expected to reopen by the evening, and the rest to be restored by the following evening. The power supply restoration in all district headquarters and other parts of the state is expected to be completed by the following day. The restoration of the remaining 415 water supply schemes affected by the rainfall is also expected to be completed within a day.

Jai Ram Thakur has emphasized the need for adequate men and machinery to ensure the earliest reopening of the remaining roads in the state. He has not issued any new instructions regarding the restoration of the roads that were previously mentioned.
