Heatwave enthusiasts disregard scorching temperatures for entertaining shooting sprees in Dusseldorf's Flingern district.

In the sweltering heat of a 30-degree day, the spirits of the gun-slinging folk in Flingern didn't wane an inch, not even for their annual marksmen's festival! On the sunny Sunday (25.6.), three regiments pranced in the parade through the district. Despite catching some march relief, they completed the route accompanied by around 120 musicians jamming in seven bands. Regrettably, the Flingern regiment's active riding corps of 30 horses could only provide transport for the four carriages.
King Sebastian Nitschke, also the 2nd Chief since March, was all smiles in the parade, flanked by Sabrina Herbst and his daughter. A separate carriage was reserved for the grinning trio, who clearly reveled in the pomp of their reign. They rode past the Liebfrauenkirche, greeted by cheers from spectators and glamorous guests.
For those stumbling on the march, hay wagons offered a chance to still partake in the celebration.
The opening act of the parade displayed the myriad flags of participating societies, including those of the nine guest societies from friendly Düsseldorf regiments. The marksmen paid honor to the majesties in three battalions.

The Flingerner Schützenkorps proudly displayed their 50th anniversary with a large flower horn and a sign. The jubilation was palpable in their anniversary year, delighted as they were to have Sebastian Nitschke as Regimental King, who was a member of their society.
After the parade, everyone returned to the festival site at Hellweg, where awards were bestowed in the festival tent. Kevin Kwiatek, the drum major of the Fanfare Tambour Corps 08, was bestowed the city order.
